Randy Vaden, is known around the Southeast as an artist and designer with many talents. He established the well-respected Knoxville, Tennessee based studio / workshop, R. E. Jennings Co., Inc, in 1986. Vaden’s creativity is equaled by his enthusiasm when working on a project.

Whether at the large drafting desk where he sketches his ideas or in the workshop where he can often be found behind a welding mask, his vision of the finished piece is foremost in his thoughts.

While commissioned designs make up much of his workload, Vaden also finds time to satisfy his need to ’design for pure arts sake. The 9/11 memorial design fell into this category as it came from his deep conviction that we are to use our talents to uplift each other.

He has said that the vision of the memorial “just came to him” and that he believes it was divinely inspired. He has stated that the most rewarding part of working on the memorial was to meet the families of the victims and to establish a place of honor for the memory their loved ones that they can share with others.
